How do I remove or reinstall 9.10

Asked by David Hall

I installed 9.10 using the Windows installer so a new partition was created on disk.

9.10 seems troublesome:
- I have not been able to get wireless networking to work yet
- The keyboard on the Inspiron 5100 isw not supported correctly.

I tried different keyboard profiles supplied with the OS and now cannot login after a reboot.

How do I either remove the Ubuntu partition so that I can try again or reinstall to get a fresh image?

I am new to Ubuntu so this has not done anything to build confidence so far.

Is there an earlier version available which might be more stable?

I have not personally used Wubi, which is the program used to install Ubuntu from within Windows. However I'm pretty certain that you can uninstall Ubuntu in this case by going to "Add/Remove Programs" (depending on your version of Windows) and uninstalling it like any other program.

Regarding your keyboard profile issue, what appears on your screen when you try to log in? Does *anything* show up?

If I remember well, to uninstall Ubuntu from inside Windows : after booting to Windows, you can introduce your live CD Ubuntu in the CD/DVD drive. Then on the Windows's dialog box that will appear (from Wubi) you 'll have the option to uninstall Ubuntu. Just follow the steps. The Wubi installer does not create a true partition on the hard drive. It just create a folder for Ubuntu in which a special file comprising the Ubuntu (GNU/Linux) file system is created.

Can you help with this problem?
