Can you supply more details about the kernel panic - it's almost impossible to determine what the problem is without more information. Thanks!

The Machine is Dell PowerEdge 6850 running Ubuntu 8 Server.

The Server went off because of power-outage. When switch on, the server boot then it shows the error kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init!

Then I tried to boot and choose the Recovery Mode but it gives me the same error.

It may be that the hardware got damaged during the power loss due. It may be worth verifying that the HDD is working by booting from a LiveCD and checking if the HDD is able working and is able to be mounted from the LiveCD or not.

@JamesLwali, I suggest booting with the LiveCD and running fsck on the / partition to make sure it's OK - perhaps there is a filesystem issue causing the partition not to mount.
