i just installed ubuntu, as i have to be familiar with it in my upcoming networking class i am going to take in high school, and i was just wondering how to get sound on ubuntu linux when you first install it. Drivers, etc would be very much appreciated

Install linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic, and reboot.

In case you don't know how to install packages, search for the package in Synaptic (available in the Administration category of the menu) or type: "apt-get install *package-name*" into the terminal.

go to system-preference-sound and enable windows and button sound
