Sound not working on Ubuntu 10.10 (onboard or with a sound card)

I have not been able to get Ubuntu to output sound and when I ran the terminal codes to test it out this is what I got.

Hi

I have 10.10. too.

1: Call the Gnome Alsa Mixer. Check all the mutes and the loudness. The second bar, called Master, is important.
