Unable to adjust volume my USB headset.

Asked by Andrew Hamblin

I am unable to adjust the volume of my USB headset using the main volume control. Any attempt to adjust the volume mutes my left channel and sets the volume of the right to a minimal level.

I'm using a Logitech USB headset on Gusty.

For some reason, the default Gnome volume control doesn't have any effect. I discovered that the workaround is to install the "gnome-alsamixer" package. You can then control your USB headset volume from Applications -> Sound & Video -> GNOME ALSA Mixer.

Can you help with this problem?
