HDMI audio for radeon hd6320 (evergreen)

Asked by griffinpeterson

Hi there,

can I somehow get HDMI audio working with the current stable release of the radeon driver?
I already tried the radeon.audio=1 kernel parameter with no success.
Or do I have to install the radeon driver from the x-org-edgers ppa?

Best,
Ben

Open-source HDMI audio only works on RadeonHD 5000-series (and earlier) at this moment. Unfortunately, you need to use Catalyst for HDMI audio on newer cards.

This is not true. If you feel bold enough, you can install the 3.3 mainline kernel (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.3-precise/)- hdmi audio works fine with that (I'm using a lenovo x121e).

I have an HP netbook DM1-4310ss HD 6320 card. I have AMD proprietary drivers version 12.4. Videos 1080p mkv do not work well. Another problem I found is that by connecting the HDMI to the TV sound can be heard on TV. Hope you can help me. Thank you.

Can you help with this problem?
