mediubuntu for hardy 64 bit

Asked by chris

i just installed the latest 8.04 with 64 bit architecture, everything works really well, but when i was trying to add the mediubuntu repository i noticed that the link shown on the mediubuntu page does not ignite the "add" button when i pasted the link.
is there different repository? or does have to be installed a different way?

What link would this be?

I am presuming "http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/hardy.list".

What you actually need is located within the file at the above URL.

deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ hardy free non-free

thanks for the hint! this is what i did : i added the link "deb http://packages.mediubuntu.org/hardy free non-free to the list of third party repositorries, as a binary then i downloaded the mediubuntu-key.gpg and hit refresh and got an error message that the release.gpg coul not be retrieved and that the package could not be downloaded

Once the repo is added, open up a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and execute the following:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update

When prompted answer yes to install.

Hmm, interesting. What I would suggest is purging your sources list of anything third party you have added, and also remove any keys you have tried to import.

Once back to a default sources.list and Software Sources setup proceed to add the medibuntu repo as documented previously, followed by the commands to add the gpg key.

thanks a lot man, it finally kinda worked , got the packages and installed some stuff already , the only strange thing is that within the packages there are some parts that just cant be dowloaded and thus not be installed , like acroread and the non free codecs for the 64 bit architecture.
