Run:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

remove these 2 lines:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-backports multiverse
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-backports multiverse

Save the new file, close gedit and run:

sudo apt-get update

Is it smooth?
