im going to leave this open

for some reason this file libmp3lame.is.0 is missing from synaptic processing

(even though there is a copyright dispute over mp3 creation it should be some where

in multi-verse or uni-verse) which is the final step to the plug- in package.

i thought i had a bad copy file so i reloaded Ubuntu

now after finding the rest of the plug-ins for Audacity , LAPSDA and the other

extensions for lame i need this file in specific.

I am really new to Linux so i don't know if i should report this as a bug

if someone can point me in the direction to find this file or has it in an older kernel

and is willing to help transfer it i would be really greatful.

thanks for the link Jim Hutchinson

the problem is that in Ubuntu unless i have a bad seed is when you get to the library find>

the file name comes up in the pop up box "where is "

and last load i couldn't find it

now i cant even search the system just slows to a force quit

im going to try to use to use the terminal and go outside the system to upload from sourceforge as soon as i get the appropriate perameter

anyone who has the experience in source code that can lend a hand or any other ideas???

We can see files on your system. You will need to upload that picture to flicker or something.

Have you enabled the universe repository? If not, open up software sources and check everything and then reload and try again.

i hope this helps to see the problem

the mp3 Ubuntu install list provide by Jim Hutchinson in the previous thread link shows

a script with the library locating the appropriate file

im not getting this function as well as you can notice in audacity http://www.flickr.com/photos/24402722@N03/2313106475/

lame seems to be linked yet when i go to export the mp3 option box is not there http://www.flickr.com/photos/24402722@N03/2314058788/

if i click options at the export set up i get wav and flac and ogg options no mp3 http://www.flickr.com/photos/24402722@N03/2314013558/

not even a mp2 or mp4 which probably still would be readable for upload on "my space" for instance (sorry cant keep option menu open and take screen shot but you can see microsoft 16 bit as one option)

i have rechecked the synaptic and loaded anything remotly close liblame and libmp3 info-perl without effect

i am assuming this is something that can be built with the appropriate guidance

yet i am hoping to resolve this if it is a bug creating the terminal batch may not help

thought i should add this in too as it has developed since this "project" started

            the following details are provided:

error message E: flumotion: subprocess post installation script returned error exit status 1

i have been having some problems with audacity and after trying to unload/reload applications i am now getting this message

is this solvable or do i need to start over?

i have tried rebooting 2 times and am tired of fine tuning Ubuntu only to have to dump and reboot

i am running Ubuntu 7.10 on a intel pen2, a new hard drive 20g, dedicated to Linux with updated 4 port usb, sound card, cd play/write , dvd player

that i have pieced together.

thanks . peace =]

use beta 1.3.4. must system>synaptic>(under all)install, lame, lame extras

(under)restricted meta> server ,generic,386,restricted all three

don't check linux base or linux 386 leave those two open check all other options 5 of 7 selected

i have tried this in stages as well as in gnome or kde

works well in bunutu=desktop audio package seems to be the only place it will mount successfully

(under)system administration restricted >install non free and

imeta-universe> install audio desktop, desktop plugins, audio package this will cover the the beta

hope this helps.
