BIT isn't seeing snapshots from prior install

Asked by Ian Borg

I've been using BIT on Fedora20. The backup drive was/is a physically different drive than what the OS was /is installed on.

I have many good snapshots in the Fedora20 backup folder. I got rid of Fedora and installed openSUSE in its place the other day.

The new install of backintime (on openSUSE) is working fine, but I want to restore some files from the older Fedora snapshots and can't seem to make backintime access them properly to do a restore (the restore button is not active).

I'm still using the same backup drive, but a new backup folder. I can get those snapshots to restore no problem, just not the ones in the fedora20 folder. Even if I make the Fedora20 folder the current backup folder, no snapshots show up in the left pane of the GUI.

Does anyone know a way to make BIT access the other folder for restore?

Please deactivate 'Auto Host/User/ProfileID' and set hostname manually to fedora20. Or use BackInTime version >1.1.0 which will come with an option to restore the config and also doesn't have this confusing 'Auto Host/User/ProfileID' option anymore.

Come on guys, you both have been around a good while. You both know this is Ubuntu support. You can find openSUSE support at the site below.

problem solved, just had to link the old backup files to the new backintime folder that bit created when I reset it to the fedora folder.
