Auto-remove not auto-removing

Asked by yusuf.martin@gmail.com

I am backing up to a 250 GB USB drive that is now full. However, auto-remove is not removing any old backups and therefore there is no room and no backups are being made by BiT. I have the options set to auto-remove if free space is less than 10 GB.

Have I misunderstood the option? Is there something I can do to alleviate this situation?

With thanks, Martin

Hi Martin,

please open a Terminal, create a new snapshot with 'backintime --backup' and post the output here.

Germar

Hi Germar

In researching this problem further I discovered that backintime has moved to github, and there I found https://github.com/bit-team/backintime/issues/374, which helped me to solve the problem. I increased 'if free space is less than' in auto-remove to 30 GB, and this allowed a snapshot to complete and older snapshots to be deleted.

With grateful thanks, Martin
