Hardlink Old Backup after Restructure

Asked by Arnold

I restructured my files and folders. BIT would now backup all files again in this new structure. To save disk space, is it possible to make a new backup on the same disk as the old one and hardlink the new backup files with the old ones, e.g. using fslint? Or will it mess up my files?

That should work fine.

You could also move your folders in the same way in your last snapshot. Might be faster than using fslint if your restructuring process wasn't that much.

BTW you just need to compare the new snapshot with the last one with fslint. All other snapshots are already hardlinked...
