If I fully understand Bug #342025 your problem might be due to a bug that existed in Ubuntu 8.10.

Perhaps updating to a newer version of Ubuntu would help. The information that nobody has posted any comments to the bug might be a hint that it does; There is a new ubuntu version available right now, and in my experience it runs rather stable and fast.

Since my computer was shipped without bluetooth I bought a 8$ USB one (that sticks out of my computer by about 4mm) instead, which works fine. But I have to admit that this solution is not as elegant as one could wish.

Not that it really will help you since your hardware is not detected, but the bluetooth icon can be started manually, too: Just go to a terminal and type
bluetooth-applet

Hi Peterpall,
Thanks.
Am using 9.10 version only.
Should i update it too 10?
No other way to activate my bluetooth?

Worth a try, you may need the later kernel.

I'd log a bug then. Seems its certified though:
