my webcam has a built in microphone but nobody can hear me. please help....i am using aMSN

if you have the cam attached and powered on and run:

alsamixer

Make sure there are no mic channels muted and that the level is cranked, also check the levels in the gnome app, you may have to switch the input to the cam in some way

It will work OOTB for sound too so you have bought wisely / luckily :)
