Will the hibernate option on Dell Studio 1555 ever work?

Whenever I try to hibernate my laptop (Dell Studio 1555), it displays an awry screen and becomes unresponsive. I need to hard reset it. I have been facing this from 11.10. Will the hibernate option ever work properly?

I suggest you report a bug. Make sure you have the latest BIOS. Also try CLI suspending and from the top-right menu too rather than just closing the lid.
