COMPIZ slows my computer

Asked by v.peregoncev

I have installed a new Ubuntu on my desctop PC
But after i have enabled Compiz Desctop Effect, my computer slows down criticly. Almost every 1-2 minutes for about 15 sec. I have looked in the System monitor and found out that the reason is always Compiz.real process. You can see that but i only could catch that on 17 %. I jumps around 99 % most of time. You can see that from the second screen shout that i did. I have downloaded a Compiz using Synaptic Manger maybe a day ago. And my machine is petty fast i got AMD 4400 Duo Core / 1 GB RAM / 120 GB Hard/ GeForce Video accelerator. Can somebody tell me what is a problem. And how can i solve that?

No. Compiz works very-very slow with any version of Nvidia driver and with any options in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I still don't know how to fix this :(

I have the same problem on my Dell Inspiron E1505. I have 256 Video RAM shared on an ATI card. If you wana avoid the hastle, open a terminal and type

metacity --replace

That will load the original window manager seen in earlier versions of Gnome.

To get compiz back

compiz --replace

Hope this helps
