What version of Ubuntu are you installing?
Where exactly does the install process stop?
If you get any errors, can you copy them and tell us what they are here?

I am guessing that you may have some problem getting into the GUI to install Ubuntu using the Desktop CD so you may want to try the Alternate CD which you can grab at releases.ubuntu.com . The Alternate CD uses the traditional text-based install and won't need to load the GUI.
