Deskjet 1660 not printing physically on paper

Deskjet 1660 not printing physicall on paper but registers on the computer as having printed. I am using Kubuntu 10.10. This has been a challenge since 10.04 after some updateds were done. Initially on both 10.04 and 10.10 just after installation the printer worked (if I remember properly).
