I cannot receive call from telephone to my pc

Binary package hint: ekiga

I'm using Linux, distro ubuntu 8.04. Ekiga is well configured, I think. People is tryng to call me but I cannot receive call.

Hello,

If you want to be reachable from the PSTN network (=land line phones / cell phones) to your PC (the "SIP" Voice over IP protocol), then you most probably need to pay a service. There is one with support built-in Ekiga (see the menu Tools -> PC-to-phone), but you can register to any other service supporting SIP and bridging to the PSTN network.

In case you already register an account with one of this services, please contact them direct and ask them for directions.

A convenient way to be reachable from the PSTN network is to buy a phone number which will be redirected to your PC by the service. Thus your contact dial this number (you can buy numbers in many countries) and will pay for a local call price (if the number is in his country). Most service provider (for the SIP protocol) have phone number to sell.
