When you are connected to empathy right click on the file you want to send click 'send to' a window will open in 'send as' select empathy in 'send to' select the name of the contact and click send. remember at the moment empathy support file transfer from empathy to empathy and pidgin and some other clients windows client file transfer is not supported from gtalk,msn or yahoo.
