How do I view MSN like I could in Windows o/s

Asked by Jody Homewood

New to ubuntu etc
I want to be able to view and use MSN like I could with windows, I have a number of things missing from MSN now.

My contacts can't see my pic or name,
When I sign in I can't see any of my contacts
I just want to have a nice simple MSN like I had in windows !

Please explain the cure as simply as possible as I am not computer savvy !

I think that you didn't advance to the new MSN when it was out and now
are having problems, simply go to MSN site and find where it says "Get
the new MSN". That should solve the problem. And if you are just
looking for a email account that is simple and plain, I would suggest
that you make a gmail account, it plan and simple :)

You could try out emesene, you might find emesene more familiar.
Open Ubuntu Software Center and search for Emesene and install it.
After you have installed it you will find it in the main menu under Internet.

When trying to download the latest messenger I get the following error message

Archive: /home/jody/Downloads/wlsetup-custom (1).exe
[/home/jody/Downloads/wlsetup-custom (1).exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/jody/Downloads/wlsetup-custom (1).exe or
          /home/jody/Downloads/wlsetup-custom (1).exe.zip, and cannot find /home/jody/Downloads/wlsetup-custom (1).exe.ZIP, period.

You can't actually install the msn messenger from Microsoft. It's a Windows program, not Linux.

I can second the recommendation for Emesene, or could try aMsn which is in the repos too. In fact, if you search for "msn" in the software centre you'll get a list of any available msn programs in the repos.
