Enigmail 1.6 not available

Enigmail 1.6 was released in October 2013. What's the reason for holding back the update for Ubuntu 13.10 users? There were some bugs fixed which annoy me in the old version I still have to use.

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant it will be updated. Considering Saucy is EOL next month near the release date of Trusty, I doubt it will be attended.

Ok, I understand that for 13.10 it won't come anymore, but when I understand things right, it isn't in the repositories for 14.04 either.
Since version 1.6 is stable since october, I would like to see it in 14.04.

Then I suggest you report a bug and it may get updated in Trusty if the bug and security gains etc are significant.
