evolution mail will not send mail it gets stuck outbox and goes nowhere

 now it wont send I answer a add on creagslist and the mail just sits in the outbox going nowhere never sent gmail is what I use can any one help thank you
 MAIL FROM command failed: Authentication Required. this is what it tells me

Go to Edit>Preference . In front of your account select Edit . Goto Sending EMail options .
Server type should be SMTP
Server - Should be smtp.gmail.com
SSL encryption

and make sure you are providing it with your password in the beggining of setuping your email client and everytime you open evolution mail

was set up a long time ago, gave up on it because it never worked. dont remember password how can I change it.
