upgrade to 2.2

Asked by Ken

I'm running Ubuntu 7.1 and Evolution 2.12
I downloaded Evolution 2.22 so I can upgrade but am stuck with the following error:

checking for GNOME_PLATFORM... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.15.3
         gtk+-2.0 >= 2.12.0
         gconf-2.0 >= 2.0.0
         gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.4.0
         libbonobo-2.0 >= 2.20.3
         libbonoboui-2.0 >= 2.4.2
         libglade-2.0 >= 2.0.0
         libgnomecanvas-2.0 >= 2.0.0
         libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.0.0
         libxml-2.0 >= 2.0.0) were not met:

No package 'glib-2.0' found
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found
No package 'gconf-2.0' found
No package 'gnome-vfs-2.0' found
No package 'libbonobo-2.0' found
No package 'libbonoboui-2.0' found
No package 'libglade-2.0' found
No package 'libgnomecanvas-2.0' found
No package 'libgnomeui-2.0' found
No package 'libxml-2.0' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNOME_PLATFORM_CFLAGS
and GNOME_PLATFORM_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details

Any help is appreciated.

Evolution 2.22 is intended to be used with Gnome 2.22. It is very unlikely you will get that working in Gutsy.
Easiest way to get Evolution 2.22 is to wait for the release of the next version of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron, end of April.
If you want to try and test it now, you can download a live CD with the beta version of Hardy from http://www.releases.ubuntu.com/hardy/
But please keep in mind it is still in development, so you should not install it on a production system yet.
