move address/email FROM Thunderbird TO Evolution

Asked by ben@ezzell.org

I'd like to move my email accounts (multiple adress books and email folders) from Thunderbird to Evolution. I would try the Import function but I can't find out where Thunderbird is storing the files. Or, if there is any better way. Thanks.

Try looking in the hidden folder...

/home/yourusername/.mozilla-thunderbird

Under /home/yourusername/.mozilla-thunderbird/bh4c13en.default/Mail/mail.mydomain.org there are a number of files which are probably the relevant email files. These are the ones which show up with a diamond-shaped icon (no extension). There are also a series of paired files with the form NAME and NAME.msf with icons which look vaguely like sheets of paper (with text). These are less clearly identifiable. What all of these are is a puzzle. Both forms lacking the msf extension are identified ast mailbox files but I'm not sure why there are two different icons. The .msf files are identified as C source code ... but sure don't look like any source code I'm accustomed to. Any suggestions?

How about setting up a gmail account with IMAP and then copying all your emails in thunderbird up to that account.
Then you don't have to worry about your email reader since all your email is accessible from any reader and is centrally stored.

Thank you for the suggestion but this really doesn't meet the criteria nor provide any answers to the questions.

Thought I would suggest it as a means to transfer the emails over from one account or mail reader to another.

Try this
http://www.debuntu.org/how-to-import-thunderbird-emails-to-evolution

there is a file mentioned called "inbox" in the article which was under (you will need to substitute your own user and mail server folder)
"/home/user/.mozilla-thunderbird/gfdse2df.default/Mail/mail.server.com"

This sounds like what you might be looking for.

Can you help with this problem?
