How to configure Evolution for MS Exchange Server 5.5?

Asked by Capslockmat1

Hello,

I have Ubuntu 8.1 and I want to configure Evolution for MS Exchange Server 5.5. I read on Evolution FAQ that there is something called Brutus..but it needs installation on both Server and Client site. I don't have access to the Server. So only thing I can play with is the my client machine.
I heard there is something called as IMAP using which I can do so. If any1 can help me with detailed steps..Or if there is any link...I would be really thankful.

Thanks..

No..I just have standard installation of Evolution which comes along with Ubuntu CD. I have not installed any evolution updates.

I think evolution-exchange package adds support for MS Exchange Server 2000 and 2003 and not 5.5...

Go up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager

use one of the search tools to look for "evolution-exchange" and install it.

Good luck with that

Well, it doesn't say that it doesn't support 5.5 so i think it's worth trying and then click on the "Mark all Updates" and click "Apply"

Hopefully that should sort it out ;)

Good luck with this

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply..

But...

I installed evolution-exchange and when I tried to connect to the server it gave error message,
"The server is running Exchange 5.5, evolution-exchange connector supports 2000 and 2003 Server"

Please help !

Thanks,

I dont know. There are a lot more people on the front-desk now and so it's worth posting this again as a new separate question. Sadly this thread fell through the net and doesn't seem to be attracting any new attention for a few days so repost it.

Ok, good luck. I think maybe no-one knows that is around at the moment. Perhaps try posting as a bug in some way - that sometimes gets a developers attention! Also it's worth trying to find forums that are specific to the Evolution and to the Exchange packages. Probably a google search is also worth trying. If you do find an answer elsewhere then please post the ansewr back here as we clearly don't know and need to.

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
