Can i syne and visit the internet with my Molile phone?

Asked by nickinkent

My phone is a Nokia 6300, it's internet enabled (is it 3g). I would like to be able to go on serf etc. on the move as there say (i may sit down). I can do this with my winXP PC, I down loaded software from nokia for that, I could not find a Linux version (i did not look for long). I am using a Toshiba net book with Ubuntu 8.04. I usually connect with a USB wire. Help help, I would be very grateful for help.

The link above is all about syncing via bluetooth, one of the devices in the chain does not have. The link "http://download.tuxfamily.org/blueman ubuntu bluetooth" returned "404 Not Found". So I am grateful for the help but it was not quite the advise I was looking for.

It must be possible to sync my nokia! 6300 through USB. Can anyone help. Nick

Hi,

Please open terminal and type sudo apt-get install obextool obexftp to
install obextool and obexftp

Once you installed these packages, connect your nokia phone with cable and
choose "Nokia Mode" (note data transfer mode will not work).

After that, type sudo obextool --obexcmd "obexftp -u 1" to call obextool
GUI.

Hope that help,
Regards,
Thien

Thank Thien, that was interesting and a bit exhilarating. I got something from the phone, themes, tunes etc. It still wont show my "names" and calender, and I could not see how to connect to the internet when I am out? I am connected by wifi at the mow.

If you have any further advice on ths matter I would be grateful.
NIck
