How to suppress configuration: output?

Hi,

In 0.6.2-4:0.6.2-1ubuntu1~ppa1~maverick1 there is 4.5KB of configuration output! Even "-loglevel quiet" doesn't suppress it.

Most of the time, (especially in scripts) all that info is not needed and the noise pollutes the output making it hard to see what's really important.

So, how to suppress this?

You can redirect any command's output to /dev/null doing this:

command > /dev/null

Did you try this? It doesn't work. FFmpeg uses stderr, so you must:
command 2> /dev/null

Such as:
ffmpeg -i input -v -10 -loglevel quiet ... output 2> /dev/null

Yeah, I know that I can redirect *all* output to the bit bucket. But that's singularly unhelpful, since it also redirects the *useful* stuff to the bit bucket.

So, is there any way to only suppress the configuration dump?

Perhaps you could selectively filter out the information you don't want, by running a command like:

ffmpeg 2>&1 | grep -v 'configuration:'

This shows the difference:
