Google toolbar problem
Firefox (from the hardy package) seems to have Google desktop or toolbar installed, but I can not find any way to disable or remove it.
Using about:config, I see references to the safebrowsing.
During a recent down load of a large file I left firefox running on a system overnight. During that time Firefox attempted to send 7 GBytes of data to the safebrowsing site. This data was blocked by a firewall, but if I can not stop firefox from sending unauthorized data outside the company it will be band from company use. I would file a bug report but launchpad seems to have a problem with the firewall as well.
This is not a firewall problem, in as much as we do expect the firewall to prevent unintentional transfer of information out of the company.
Can someone tell me if google safebrowsing is somehow compiled in to the unbuntu package of firefox?
Is there a version of firefox available without the google stuff? May be I need to install from mozilla source.
