firefox very slow since last update on September 15. Is using over half my memory according to top.

Asked by W Craig

For about the past 10 days firefox has been VERY slow to load pages. The last update per update manager was on September 15. According to top firefox is using over half my memory. Once or twice firefox has crashed when loading a page, but this was automatically sent out as a report. Are others having a similar problem? I use ubuntu 10.04 and firefox 3.6.10

You could try switching DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

You could run a local DNS

Firefox by default is VERY slow, these hacks can help too:

Frankly I advise people not to use it and to use Chrome/ium.

While using flash, in specific flash 64bit with nspluginwrapper?
Maybe then you like to test 'Square'. (Note: current flash needs to be removed then first)

Can you help with this problem?
