1. Install ubuntu-restricted-extras
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
2. For DVD playback also run:
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats for more info.

PS Google's Chrome browser doesn't require a flash plugin to play youtube

Enter google chrome on firefix address bar. Click Download.
Run when downloaded. Then Go to Applications, Internet, and run it from there - or right click Add to panel.

Since this has nothing to do with the way you installed, I'm going to move it into the general category and maybe someone else can help more.

under System>Administration, open Software Source and enable Canonical Parnters

go to terminal by pressing CTL+ATL+T, then type

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install adobe-flash

enter your password when asked. it will not show on the screen

TADA!

if you're trying to download the videos, you can get the addon Video Downloadhelper for firefox.

Did you see the note at the top of the page?

If you want to install only flash for amd64, this is more complicated, if however you want to install MP3+flash+other stuff, that page advised you to click on a link that takes you to the page on how to install the restricted extras package:
