Java issues - orkut login - ubuntu 10.10

Hi ,

I am novice to Ubuntu 10.10. I am not able to login to the orkut after providing my authentication. I think this is problem with Java.
as I am also facing similar problem on other java enabled sites. These sites work perfectly fine with my authentication under windows XP.
Another example is this site itself when I try the link https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+addquestion/+login in ubuntu it gives me blank page.

I am using firefox 3.6.13. When I type about:plugins in url, I can see Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_22 already there.
I tried allowing the cookies for site and installing JDK. It did not help.

Please advise.

The problem was with firewall setting. Enable ICMP filtering was enabled. I disabled that option and it worked.
