where are you seeing this? when is it happening?

if it's occuring in your browser while you surf the net, just block the page. it's an old trick that tries to get you to click something on the page to install a virus on your computer.

Thanks, I did not know what to make of it. The page told me I had at least 7 viruses, that I had been infected. I had gone to www.rollingstone.com/paynow. Also told to click onto something pupcake or something for help.

Please advise if this is occurring in your web browser. It almost has to be. Linux uses file level security and by it's very nature is virus free. About the only way Linux could be affected by a virus is by an infected email or email attachment. Even then it would not affect your system but you could pass the virus along unknowingly.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your comment. I was very surprised, as I am fully aware of way Linux is virus free. That is why I was so shocked when I had to shut down and restart. I could not remove the page. But restarting did the job. Thank you again.

you might want to install the add-on noscripts. it will prevent hijacking of websites. i find it very useful.

you should also clear your browser cache and history to get rid of any residue of the "virus" that's affecting your system. otherwise, it could start up again.

Can you help with this problem?
