Need to set up ntp time

Cannot automatically check time against a time server and neet to install NTP.
I am a novice with UBANTU and have just loaded it.
Also having problems getting free antivirus program to install
Any clues what I should do

Have you tried using the "Time and Date" program in system -> administration? You should be able to select a box that says "keep clock synchronised with Internet servers" this should then prompt you to install ntp support.

For antivirus you might like to try amavis-ng, or clamav. To do so you'll need to enable the universe and multiverse repositories (see https://help.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/desktopguide/C/extra-repositories.html)

However most people don't use anti-virus programs with linux as there are very few linux viruses and security flaws viruses exploit are generally fixed quickly.
