Cannot View web page in Firefox

Asked by Krishna Prasad Omkar

I have got the Ubuntu 7.10 installed on my PC...

Of late I am facing a issue in VIEWING web pages in Firefox, Intially I did not had this kind of problem.

The page is getting loaded with the adress bar fetching the URL, BUT I see a plain white screen in front of me.

When I type www.google.com in URL address, It loads the page in the browser and in the bottom I see "Done" but I cannot see it.

I browse and regularly download movies from torrent sites with client Azureus.

I had a feeling that because I have installed Azureus and it is continously downloading which is why I am not able to view the web page BUT, I removed Azureus and tried but to my surprise, I am facing the same issue...

I am just not able to understand why the web page is not been displayed.

It might be or might not be a BUG, but I want some help please...

It might be the colours. Check Edit.Preferences>Content> Colours ... Make sure that the box "Allow pages to..." is checked.

Also try to view the Page Source. Even if the page is loaded, but you can't see it, you can see the Page Source. View>Page Source

Hello,

What I recommend doing is deleting your profile. Back up any settings/bookmarks that you want to keep.

Close Firefox

Go to Places>Home then press ctrl+h to show hidden files/folders.

Delete or rename the .mozilla folder then restart firefox.

Best Regards,

In that case, try

Close firefox
sudo dpkg --purge firefox ; sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade ; sudo apt-get install firefox

Then post back the results.
