How to play stream on www.hit967.com

Asked by Bappyachuthan

Hai,
I am using UBUNTU 9.04 OS. I tried to open a web based radio called Hit 96.7. Pls note the website for the same below. "www.hit967.com/english/pages/listenlive. aspx" When i tried to play the media, there is a message appearing on the top to install required plugins. Accordingly i installed wmpfirefoxplugin.exe by opening the file in WINE. Also mean time it is searching for suitable multimedia plugins MMSH Protocol Source. However,i am reciving a message that the said packages with requested plugins is not found. Pls help me to run this media.

Regards.

I'm not absolutely sure, but if you View Page Source of that page it gives this link: http://asx.abacast.com/arabian_radio-hitfm-64.asx

If you play that in VLC (Media, Open Network - Paste into box) it identifies it as hit967 64bit.

Alternatively you can play the link in Firefox.

Can you explain more about VLC. I don't understand that.
When i clicked on the above mentioned link on your reply its directing to a media player and still asking MMSH protocol source missing.

Please try and see if you can get a Flash embedded version on the page rather than a Windows Media version. For example the link may look like this:

Format: Windows Media | Flash

"Can you explain more about VLC. I don't understand that."

VLC is a media player - perhaps the most flexible.

If you don't have it -
Connect to the Internet
Open a Terminal
Issue the command: sudo apt-get install vlc
