Ati radeon 9200 pro driver

Asked by Vit

I can't use Desktop Effectcs and Beryl after installing Ati Radeon 9200 pro card in my Pc.
Before i had a nVidia MMX 400 and all was all right.
Is it possible that i don't have the right driver?
I downloaded, from Ati website, "ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run" but i don't know how install it.
I tryed to config the xorg file and i managed to run the grafic mask from the command line of the recovery mode, but i think i don't have 3d accelerator running.
Thank You for help by now

There is a deb available from Ubuntu. This means that the ATI driver fglrx can easily be installed.

Very easy actually! Just go to Restricted Drivers in the System menu and tick ATI driver. Hurray! Your driver is all up to date, installed and configured.
If you want those fancy 3d effects / compiz fusion, you will have to install Xgl (the nvidia drivers doesn't need this because it supports AIGLX). Install xgl with:
sudo apt-get install xserver-xgl

If your running gutsy the 3d effects will be up and running the next time you log on now
