Is there a facility for doing regular expression edits in gedit

Just exploring. I am a vi user and want to know if similar facilities exist in gedit. In particular, marking regions and doing regular expression edits on them is a useful vi feature. Is there similar stuff in gedit?

You can use the gedit symbol browser to enter symbols and regular expressions in gedit
