If you want a desktop OS, why didn't you install the desktop system???

The WHOLE idea of the server is to stay CLI to reduce used resources as well as make the system more secure.

You CAN install ubuntu-desktop on the server but you will get EXACTLY the same OS as the desktop. You just had to take an extra step and waste time....

Hi if you're accessing your server remotely, you might want to try installing some GADMIN applications on your desktop. These offers GUI controls for server administration like Squid, Samba, print, domain, file server, VPN, FTP, etc.

GADMIN tools can be found in Ubuntu Software Center or at http://gadmintools.flippedweb.com/. Hope that helps.

Ubuntu server has just less packages installed, if you install desktop verson you have same packages as server plus the graphical interface.
Then you can install various server packages.

Can you help with this problem?
