Dynex 5.1 sound card

Asked by CipherFlayre

I have XP pro installed on my computer, and I'm trying to get this sound card to work. Dynex 5.1 sound card. However it tells me the OS does not support it, and my computer will restart so long as the card is plugged into the PCI slot. I'm not very good with computer hardware tinkering.. so didn't want to risk jacking anything up. Is it possible to get the card to work? Or.. is there some other card I can install?

I'm presuming you also have Ubuntu installed and you wish to dual-boot with Windows?

Here is a list of hardware supported by Ubuntu.

No sounds of the dynex but it may work depending on the chipset.
You could run a command in terminal (Applications, Accessories menu) to show what the card is being identified as and then check that in the hardware list.
