sudo apt-get --reinstall install mozilla-mplayer

How do you get the data to stream? Can you provide a link so I can test and investigate. Thanks

Hi :)

Are you still using Gutsy Gibbon, Ubuntu 7.10?
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+question/20082

Please upgrade to at least 8.04. In fact 8.04 might be absolutely perfect for you, better than 9.04 because 8.04 has Long Term Support and doesn't need upgrading again until June 2010 when 10.06 is due to be released.

Once you have done that then please follow all the steps in this guide to sort out almost all your multimedia in one easy go without missing anything
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
although i would keep the non-free components because i find them so incredibly useful. Hopefully one day i will go completely OpenSource but not just yet.

Then get the flash player installed using this guide
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash

Finally sort the BBC's linux iplayer
http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/download_programmes/desktop_linux
choosing the Debian option as Ubuntu is in the Debian family. You might want to help support them by being one of their beta testers but thiis would mean the thing would break-down occasionally and you'd have to ask them how to fix it
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/labs
it would mean you would be using the ultra latest version before almost anyone else tho ;)

I hope this helps!
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Ok I followed the link to http://www.learningmeditation.com/getaway1.htm and found the files given are .ram files which require realplayer

You can install realplayer from the medibuntu repo

Realplayer is spyware. I don't know what kind of effect it has under Linux, but on Windows systems, it is spyware (just like the google and Yahoo toolbars, and various messaging clients)

It works fine for me... I'd run apt-get update on your system first, make sure you're all up-to-date.

Hi :)

I seem to have been having trouble with YouTube and playing movies over the internet in the last couple of days. Sometimes things like this just happen and then magically get fixed or seem to fix themselves a few days later. I am never quite sure if it was just me being stupid for a couple of days or if it's down to some updates. At the moment i seeem to fix the problem by useing Synaptic to look for "flash" and completely uninstall "adobe-flashplugin" and then reinstall it. Using the search button helps because it remembers the last thing i typed into it. It seems to be caused whenever i mute audio. <shrugs> i might post a bug-report about it tomorrow but i have a feeling this time it's something stupid i did but can't remember what i did lol

I don't know if any of that is relevant. Does other multimedia work on your machine? Any trouble with playing normal movies or playing music? Please let us know.
Regards from
Tom :)
