Cannot connect Ubuntu 10.4 netbook via WEP 40
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.4 netbook edition on my wife's Lenovo ideapad. I installed the recommended proprietary Broadcom STA driver but it has not helped with the problem.
The issue seems to be that my router needs a WEP 40/128-bit pass phrase, but when I select that from the list in the Create New Connection dialog, the "Create" button for the new network connection is disabled. Every other kind of encryption allows me to click the "Create" button except the WEP 40/128-bit, which is what it seems my router needs.
I have no problem with any other device connecting to my router.
Does anyone else know the secret to getting wifi to work on a Lenovo IdeaPad using Ubuntu netbook edition? My router by the way is a Netgear Sky wireless router.
