Configure Internet Connection

Asked by Siddhartha Chakraborty

I am using ubuntu 10.10. I have a DSL broadband connection over PPPoE. I connect using WLAN. I have a user id and password for authentication. Please advice on how I can configure my connection.

I am able to connect to my modem using WLAN. But I am unable to configure the DSL connection.

do you need to set up a proxy for you connection?
you can set up the proxy, your id and password from:
System --> Preferences --> Network proxy

select Manual Proxy configuration
type your proxy if you have one if you don't keep all the field empty
for setting up your id and password click the Details button

No, I dont need a proxy to access the internet.

I only need my DSL connection to authenticate me over PPPoE through my WLAN. I am able to connect to my WLAN. But I am not able to configure my DSL connection. I dont have a static ip but is assigned by dhcp.

Thanks... the pppoeconf seems to solve my problem. But I still wonder why haven't they provided a GUI for this one ???
