I'm pretty sure you should remove the blacklist rt2800pci line from wherever it is in /etc/modprobe.d. That driver will handle your chip. You should then see other wireless access points. That's as far as I got, still could not connect with that chip in 11.10, network-manager just keeps failing to connect.

You should remove all the 2800 blacklisted items:
blacklist rt2800pci
blacklist rt2800lib
blacklist rt2x00pci
blacklist rt2x00lib
Then your wireless should work. My problem was a typo in the password.
