Wireless not working Dell Inspiron 5100 Ubuntu 11.10

Asked by Joe Weinle

I just installed Ubuntu on Dell Inspiron5100 with Netgear PC Card. From this diagnostic, it appears that the device is seen but it is not working. Any help is appreciated.

Please read the solution from Chase Douglas at this location:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/515424

Please copy-paste the following commands into the Terminal one line at a time and then hit <ENTER>:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree

Then reboot and retest wireless.

Can you help with this problem?
