Restore top menu bar

I have inadvertently deleted top menu bar. How do I restore this. Help will be much appreciated••••••••••••••••••••

Try to do this:
1. Login into Ubuntu
2. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
3. Insert and run this command:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel

4. Restart, this should work.

If when you hit CTRL + ALT + T and nothing happen, do this:
1. At login screen select Recovery Console at bottom:

2. Insert and run this command:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel

3. Restart, this should work.

Many thanks for your email. I have tried the command several times without
success.
I wonder if I'm entering something wrong, like do I enter a space at the end
of the lines?
Also do I hit return key after entering command?

You have to run this command like this:
1. copy and paste this:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel

and press enter

2. copy and paste this:
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel

and press enter

3. copy and paste this:
pkill gnome-panel

and press enter
