how to -launch/open- the main menu 'button' with a keyboard shortcut

there is a 'windblows' flag on my Dell notebook that 'opens' the main menu on xp OS,

i want to know if there is a keyboar shortcut that opens the main menu on the Ubuntu 11.04 Gnome 2 distribution

Alt-F1, is that what you ask for?

And as it is said on this page, "via System>Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts on the main menu."
