Restore Top Main Panel.

I accidently deleted the TOP MAIN PANEL after you Logon & now I have no drop down menues.
How can I Restore the TOP MAIN PANEL after you Logon where it had the Tine & where you Logoff/Shutdown.
AGAIN . . . . THIS IS AFTER you enter your Logon Password.

Try:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

I am GREEN with Ubuntu software BUT I tried the command which your suggested & it told me the task/service was not running.
I tried this from the DOS type screen prompt ?
When I re-booted I went to "safe Mode" first & the top Panel was back !
DID that command really work? I CAN NOT TELL. I must delete it again to re-try but for now I am leaving it alone.
There should be A "software for Linux-Ubuntu for dummies" for peoples like me ?

i Have the same problem.
but didn't quite understand how to get to trying actionparsnip's way.
where does one type it.

In a terminal, you can run one by pressing CTRL+ALT+T
