11.10 -- have to login twice with lock screen

Whenever my login/lock screen (but not the initial login screen) comes up due to inactivity, I am prompted for my password as usual. Once I enter it successfully it goes away but about 5 seconds later the screen will lock automatically again and I'll have to enter my password on the screen for the second time. That let's me back in, but talk about annoying especially when you have a 5 minute delay for the screen to go off...

Any ideas?

I had the same problem here with my ubuntu 11.10. I'm using Gnome shell. It happens to me pretty often. Would like to resolve this.
