why 11.10 does not show like 11.04 does in Gnome classic ?

Asked by Lynne Stevens

well I went looking for the answer and either I didn't type the question right but I remember there is a sudo command about installing the kernel with pae file so the virtual box will load and then go back and do the sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdr setup so every thing will work . .

I crashed 12.04 removing Mate and had to re do a lot of things , ,
I am back up to 11.04 . . By the way why is it 11.10 does not show up like 11.04 does in Gnome classic ?

There is no classic in Oneiric, only Unity2D and Unity. You can install gnome-panel in Oneiric and get a classic style desktop (or install Xubuntu and get a desktop that is not too dissimilar to the classic session).

Well Saturday maybe Friday I will upgrade to 11.10 . . By the way the sound in 11.10 is the pits volume control was almost deleted and the control is pit awful . . has no real control like in 11.04 . . I will try the gnome panel which is in 11.04 in 11.10 to see what happens . . I am not a big fan of the floating ICON'S stuff takes to long to find a program and start it . . I put Mate into another computer with 12.04 for an OLD MAN in his 80's so it was back to being like 10.10 again and he likes it can find what ever and get it done . . I got to go over and add some stuff so he can watch Movies AGAIN ! ! . . Why does UPGRADING remove the abilitiies to watch movies via DVD's ? . . do not like the Xbuntu or the kbuntu versions
